Florida Legislation

1. Licensing of Community Association Managers

During the past few years, many legislators have advocated that the State of Florida abolish the requirement that community association managers be licensed.

Currently, every community association manager (CAM) must be licensed by the State of Florida. CAM's must take education courses and pass a written exam to get their license. Considering that CAM's are involved with hundred of thousands or millions of dollars of association revenue as well as operate an association where thousands of lives are affected, keeping CAM's licensed is an important priority of the FCAC.

2. Condominium Trust Fund

Every year each condominium association is required to pay a fee into the condominium trust fund. This fund is used to pay the expenses related to the Division of Florida Land Sales, Condominiums and mobile Homes. During the past two years, the state legislature has used a portion of the condominium trust fund to pay for expenses that are unrelated to condominium assoications. The Florida Community Association Coalition seeks to secure the trust fund so that it will only be used for its intended purpose.
